Open Sites

Sideshow Alley is the area between the Main Gate and the Founders Pavilion.

This is usually the first stopping point for the public entering through the Northern Turnstiles.

These sites are open to the elements, with bare ground flooring; measuring 55m2 approximately.


Access to power is a bonus but is NOT assured.

Machinery Hill is the downward slope, south of the Founders Pavilion.

This area has seen extensive earthwork by the Royal Agricultural Show Society of Queensland in recent years. As such, sites have been subject to change. Since last swap, there has been extensive terracing done, so more sites are level than before.

This area has mostly grassed outdoor sites, measuring 55m2 approximately.

Access to power is a bonus but is NOT assured.

The Main Arena contains grassed outdoor sites set in orderly rows running south-north. The outer ring of the oval is used for the Car Display. The sites are all 55m2 and access to power is a bonus but is NOT assured.

Site holders are required to park their vehicles within their allotted site. As the Main Arena is used for a Car Display every year, it is essential that site holders do not leave their vehicles on the Main Arena track.

At the southern end of the Main Arena is the First Aid station and Grand Central, which is an information point for siteholders and location of the security office.

Village Green is south of the Main Arena, separated from Machinery Hill by the main road.

This area contains mostly grassed outdoor sites, measuring 55m2 approximately. Some sites are abnormal shapes, but every effort has been made to ensure the area is roughly the same.

The Cattle Area surrounds the Cattle Pavilion, and is east of the Main Arena. These sites are uncovered, measuring 55m2, (excepting Row J, which winds around the eastern side of the Main Arena, which measure 60m2). There are 190 sites on the western side of the Pavilion and 30 sites on the eastern side.

The Equestrian Area is quite extensive, encompassing the surrounds of both Equestrian Pavilions. This area is the first stop for most of the public entering through the southern turnstiles.

These are outdoor, uncovered sites, measuring 55m2 approximately. Some sites are abnormal shapes, but every effort has been made to ensure the area is roughly the same.

The Lake Pavilion Open is the area outside the Lake Pavilion. These are outdoor, uncovered sites, measuring 55m2 approximately.

The Founders Terrace is on the edge of the road past the Founders Pavilion.

Covered Sites

The Founders Verandah consists of concrete floored sites along the outside of the Founders Pavilion, positioned to take advantage of the passing traffic at the northern and southern entrances.

The Founders Pavilion has an internal food stall and amenities.

Equestrian Pavilion #1 is the shed between the Lake Pavilion and the larger Equestrian Pavilion #2. It holds four orderly rows. The outside rows (A & D) have sites measuring 18m2, while the inside row sites (B & C) measure 21m2. These are covered sites, with dirt floors and open sides.

Equestrian Pavilion #2 is the larger shed at the eastern end of the row of three. It contains sites measuring 24m2, laid out in orderly rows. These sites are covered, but have dirt floors and open sides.

The pavilion is opposite the southern turnstiles and is exposed to large numbers of people as they enter the swap.

Cattle Pavilion is the shed on the eastern side of the Showgrounds, within the Cattle Area. These sites are covered, with dirt floors and open sides. This area contains sites measuring 35m2.

The Lake Pavilion is the area between Equestrian Pavilion #1, the lake and Village Green. This area has covered sites within the pavilion. The sites have dirt floors, open sides, and measure 21m2.

The Founders Pavilion is the largest shed on the Showgrounds. It is situated on the western side of the Showgrounds, with entrances to Sideshow Alley, Machinery Hill and the Glenvale Room. The pavilion features concrete flooring, with sites of approximately 18m2. This area is locked at night.

The Pavilion also has an internal food stall and amenities.

The Berghofer Pavilion is well situated and has been set up to cater mainly for people who deal at collectable fairs, buying and selling antiques and collectable items. This pavilion stands above Machinery Hill, south-west of the Founders Pavilion. It holds concrete floored indoor sites, each 15m2. This pavilion is locked at night.

Siteholders in this pavilion are asked to park their vehicles on the high ground to the west of the building.
