Below is a message from John Osborne OAM seeking vehicles for a display at the Cobb & Co Museum in December next year.
His requirements are listed in the text below but basically he wants a vehicle from each of the years listed.
I've already had three volunteers.
1924 Collen Klein (Oakland) - American
1987 John McVeigh (Ford Fairlane ZL) - Australian
1997 ?
2007 ?
2017 David Grant (Moto Guzzi V7III) - the oldest Italian motorcycle company, continuously making quality motorcycles since 1921.
2027 ? (Not yet manufactured - who's planning on buying a new car next year?)
The vehicle register I have only goes up to 1987 but I'm hoping some member can help after that.
Given that we've got possible vehicles from Australia, USA, Italy, it would be nice to have a UK and another European country represented as well.

Firstly I wish to record my sincere thanks and appreciation to you for your readiness to spend so much of your time exploring and discussing with me the prospect of involving some of your member's vehicles in a special celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Official Opening of the Cobb & Co Museum.
The Anniversary is due to be held in early December 2027 at the Cobb & Co Museum, Lindsay Street, Toowoomba. Actual dates to be confirmed, however it’s likely the 6 unique and rare vehicles will be in place for 7 days in a very secure location.
I feel honored to have been employed in the early 1970s by Toowoomba’s Mr William Bolton OBE, the person who collected the 42 Horse Drawn vehicles which now form the base of the Cobb & Co Museum and to be given the opportunity to assist as a volunteer with the organization of the 40th Anniversary.
At present, we are exploring the possibility of having a unique/rare 1924 vehicle, locally owned, as 1924 was the year when the last Cobb & Co Service operated.
Then we also want one vehicle representing each of the decades as listed below:
one from 1987 the Year the Cobb & Co Museum was officially opened
one from 1997 the first decade after the official Opening
one from 2007 the second decade
one from 2017 the third decade
one from 2027 the fourth decade
In total we are hoping to have 6 unique/ rare vehicles involved, hopefully being provided by members of the DDVVMC.
In order to have this celebratory event formally approved, it's necessary that I provide some detailed / factual information on each of the Vehicles to Museum Queensland on or before Wednesday 14 August, 2026.
It would be appreciated if your Club could organise to have this information emailed to me on or before 14 August 2026.
It would be nice to think I will have the opportunity to work closely with you and various members of your Club, in the months ahead.
