It is with regret that The Darling Downs Veteran and Vintage Motor Club Inc. advises that it has come to the decision that the 2021 Toowoomba Swap be cancelled.
The health, safety and welfare of our swap patrons, swap site-holders, swap volunteers, club members and the community at large is the primary concern of the club. This concern, together with State Government restrictions in place for the operation of events the size of the Toowoomba Swap compel the club to take this action.
An event the size of the Toowoomba Swap requires a lot of planning, which had already begun, and involves considerable expenditure prior to the event. The uncertainty which exists in relation to COVID-19 creates an unacceptable risk should circumstances change and would mean that if at short notice the Swap suddenly cannot be held as planned, there would be serious financial implications, as well as inconvenience for Swap Site-holders.
All current swap site bookings will be rolled over to the 2022 Swap to be held on 5th and 6th February, 2022, unless a site-holder would prefer a refund. Site-holders who wish to receive a refund should notify the club’s Booking Office via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 0400 345 564 before 31st December, 2020. Swap site bookings that are cancelled would not be reserved for the 2022 Swap.
31/8/20 CANCELLATION - DDVVMC 50th Anniversary Rally
(Incorp. 2020 QHMC Southern Qld Rally)
On Sunday 30 August, a joint meeting of the 50th Anniversary Committee and the Management Committee was held to consider the future of our 50th Anniversary celebrations in light of emerging COVID-19 risks in SE Queensland, related restrictions and ongoing uncertainty. Central to the joint Committee consideration of the future of the rally was the health, safety and wellbeing of rally participants and the community at large as well as the reputation of DDVVMC.
It is with regret that the joint committee meeting made the decision to cancel the DDVVMC 50th Anniversary Rally (incorporating the 2020 QHMC Southern Queensland Rally). The joint committee meeting felt that this was the only responsible course of action that could be taken despite it being an outcome that none of us ever wanted to see happen.
All rally entrants will be given a full refund of fees paid net of the cost of purchased shirts and caps which they will receive. All rally entrants will also receive the rally bag and contents that would have been given to them had the rally proceeded.
Thanks must be given to all on the 50th Anniversary Committee who have worked tirelessly to plan the event.
10/6/20. The management committee has decided to reopen the club buildings, including the workshop, under special provisions. The provisions include a maximum of 20 people are to be present in the workshop and in club buildings at any one time, members must sign in and out, social distancing and appropriate sanitising provisions must be observed. Complete conditions information has been sent to all members with an email address. The conditions must be consulted before using club facilities. A copy of the conditions is available for DDVVMC members on this site, under the Private Menu, Club Notices Page (the first page under Private heading).
11/5/20. Members intending to use the club's impromptu rally facility should check current government COVID-19 regulations to determine the legality of any proposed outing in their vehicle.
7/4/20. In response to the unprecedented events associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the Management Committee has decided to cancel activities including monthly general meetings and monthly rally events until further notice. Additionally, the club’s workshop is now closed until further notice. These measures have been taken out of necessity and are in the interests of protecting the health and wellbeing of all DDVVMC members, which is of paramount importance. The Management Committee will continue to monitor the situation and the closure arrangements will remain in place until the Committee is satisfied it is both safe and responsible to resume normal activities.
